Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Ackland Art Museum on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus is one of the leading public university art museums in the country. The Museum’s collection includes more than 15,000 works of art, featuring North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art as well as works of art on paper (drawings, prints, and photographs), European masterworks, 20th century and contemporary art, African art, and North Carolina pottery. The Ackland features more than a dozen special exhibitions every year, from contemporary American photography to European master paintings to video installations. An integral part of academic and social life on campus and the surrounding community, the Ackland remains a vibrant source of inspiration to our state and the entire region.
