Glenis Redmond is a poet, educator and performer. Her work has been published in the Asheville Poetry Review, Kakalak Poetry and Obsidian among other publications. She has released two spoken word CDs and has published three poetry chapbooks: Naming It, If I Ain’t African and a children’s chapbook, Word Power. Her full-length book of poetry, Backbone, was published by Underground Epics in 2000. Inside Voice
Down the dark tunnel of throat
In the threaded jungle of larynx,
What if what is waiting is not a humble
Lark in a darken cubicle?
What if what is waiting is a ragged bark
Of a crow perched on the breath,
Not with a small cry
But a crimson song
Filling the hush of the horizon
with lungs flared in full wing.
