Western Carolina University’s Annual Jazz Festival features free performances by contemporary jazz musicians on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 on the WCU campus in Cullowhee. Headliners include drummer Jason Marsalis of the legendary Marsalis family, bassist Steve Haines, who serves as director of the Miles Davis program in jazz studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and North Carolina-born saxophonist John Ellis. They will perform both Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the university’s Fine and Performing Arts Center. The concerts are free and open to the public.
