State poet laureates serve as ambassadors of North Carolina literature past and present and for all North Carolina writers — especially living writers. During their term, they seek to raise appreciation of the reading and writing of poetry throughout the state.
The poet laureate is available for readings, talks on the craft of writing, writing workshops and lectures.
