The New York Times’ frugal traveler stopped in Charlotte and stretched his limited resources with a barbecue dinner and a freebie — public art. While he found the combination platter at Mac’s Speed Shop on his own, he was aided by the Arts & Science Council in his journey of public art. Budget roadie Seth Kugel used the public art walking tour podcast and map to find his way to several statues and sculptures in the Queen City’s hip Uptown.
