American Idol winner Scotty McCreery recognized his music teacher during the finale of American Idol by presenting her with the keys to a new Ford. But there are lots of teachers like Garner’s Meredith Clayton out there teaching students that the arts can make a difference in their lives. Garner Middle School principal John Williams makes the point that arts in the schools produce successful and productive citizens in a recent op-ed piece in the News & Observer.
