| Regional Artist Project Grants 2011–2012 Artists in participating North Carolina counties may apply for funding to pursue projects that further their career development. Grant amounts vary by region and project, but usually range between $500 and $2,000. Eligible projects include the creation of new work, purchase of supplies and materials, professional development workshops, travel support related to research or study, and production of promotional materials, including websites, CDs, DVDs and brochures. The Upstate Book Project, Spartanburg, S.C.
The Upstate Book Project is a collaborative art and writing project connecting 30 artists throughout the Upstate region (S.C.). Applications will be accepted from artists residing in the N.C. Counties of Polk and Rutherford and the S.C. counties of Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Laurens, Pickens, Spartanburg and Union. Selected artists will be required to write a 100-word or less storyline and then create an 18″ x 24″ vertical illustration to accompany the storyline. The final product will be a completed book in bound magazine format containing the entire story.
