The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) was named one of the world’s best film schools in an inaugural list compiled by The Hollywood Reporter with the help of industry insiders. The article names alumni including David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down) and Jody Hill (Observe and Report) and highlights the school’s BFA programs in animation, art direction, cinematography, directing, editing and sound, producing and screenwriting along with its MFA program in film music composition.
“I feel like UNCSA’s film school provided me with an exceptionally practical filmmaking education,” says Travis Beacham, screenwriter, Clash of the Titans in the article. “You watched lots of films, but more than anything else, you made movies.” The list of 25 film schools also includes the University of Southern California, Beijing Film Academy and New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
