South Arts is accepting applications for its spring internship program that provides on-the-job arts administration training to current college students, graduate students or recent graduates. Interns will work 15 to 20 hours per week between mid-February and April and can receive college credit or a stipend.

Guitar Center and Grammy Award–winning producer John Shanks will award one undiscovered singer-songwriter the chance to record a three-song EP, $10,000 cash, new musical gear, studio time in New York City and worldwide music distribution. Contest is based on the artist’s online fan base. Artists will be ranked by the amount of new fans acquired between now and December 2.

Crab Orchard Review and Southern Illinois University Press announce the 2012 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry Open Competition. All unpublished, original collections of poems written in English by U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible. Two volumes of poems will be selected from an open competition of manuscripts, and both winners will be awarded a $2,000 prize and a $1,500 honorarium for a reading at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The Pedestal Magazine, Greensboro
The Pedestal Magazine is accepting poetry and fiction submissions for its December 2011 issue. There are no theme or length limitations for poems. For fiction submissions, the December issue will include the annual speculative fiction feature. Speculative includes science fiction, fantasy, horror, slipstream, surreal and experimental. Fiction submissions should not exceed 2,000 words. Selected writers are compensated for publication of their work.
