President Clinton with A+ Schools Program Director Michelle Burrows
“Every American should know about the A+ Schools Program,” said President Bill Clinton, in a ringing endorsement of the whole school reform model that views the arts as fundamental to how teachers teach and students learn in all subjects. Clinton made his remarks Saturday, Feb. 4, during a news conference at the Clinton Library in Little Rock, Arkansas, held in connection with a revival of the Arkansas A+ Program.
The N.C. A+ Schools Network, representing 45 A+ Schools in the state, assisted both Arkansas and Oklahoma in establishing similar statewide networks. By this August, there will be 12 Arkansas A+ Schools. “We don’t all learn the same way,” Clinton said, “and we can’t sustain as a country having the level of dropouts we have and the level of learning we’re achieving compared to our competitors.”
