Writer, poet and dramatist Reynolds Price, the James B. Duke Professor of English at Duke University and a native of Macon who passed away last January, is being honored with special events organized by Triad Stage, the Greensboro Public Library and the N.C. Arts Council.
New Music, Price’s family trilogy of plays including August Snow, Night Dance and Better Days, can be seen in rotating repertory at Triad Stage from Sunday, Feb. 12, through Sunday, March 18.This unique literary and theatrical event paints a picture of the Avery family in eastern N.C. in 1937, 1945 and 1974, and marks only the second time all three plays have been performed together since they were written in the 1980s. For more information or to order tickets, visit http://triadstage.org.
The Greensboro Public Library has organized a series of more than two dozen “One City, One Author” community events around Price’s life and writing, running through April. They include recollections from panels of students and fellow writers, drawing classes, discussions of Price’s journey from illness to healing and a film highlighting his teaching career.
