A “Wine-ing Through the Yadkin Valley Heritage Tour” is the first in a series of group tours celebrating the culture, heritage and eco-tourism opportunities waiting to be enjoyed in N.C. Sponsored by the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership, the tour takes place Thursday, May 17 and Friday, May 18 and highlights the wineries and vineyards of the Yadkin Valley, N.C.’s first federally-recognized American Viticultural Area (wine grape-growing region).
In addition to tours and tastings at four regional vineyards and wineries, the two-day excursion also includes visits to the historic town of Wilkesboro, narrated tours of Elkin and Mount Airy, a visit to the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History and a traditional music jam at the historic EARLE Theatre in Mount Airy.
