Founded in 1989, Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte is the region’s only professional theatre company solely dedicated to presenting plays for mature audiences. Its first production, Romulus Linney’s Holy Ghosts, took place at Charlotte’s Afro-American Cultural Center, and for the next four years its productions were mounted at the newly-renovated Spirit Square complex. Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte moved into a permanent home on East Stonewall Street in 2004, presenting bold, innovative and thought-provoking new works by contemporary playwrights. Now the region’s most award-winning theatre company, its annual new play festival, nuVoices for a nuGeneration honors and encourages emerging playwrights of the American Theatre.
Actors Theatre of Charlotte’s fall season includes Red, now through Sunday, Nov. 25. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, at 2:30 p.m. For details on this and other productions, visit actorstheatrecharlotte.org.
