Established in 1948 by the Junior League of Charlotte, the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte (CTC) initially produced plays in local school auditoriums with young people and Junior League volunteers as cast members. The Theatre moved into a city-owned former VFW club building in 1971, growing into a professional performance company. The Tarradiddle Players became CTC’s resident touring company in 1989, and in 2005 the Theatre moved into a new home at ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center. A nationally unique collaboration between the Theatre and the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County, ImaginOn brings stories to life by combining exceptional theatre, literature and programming for young people under one roof.
