The American Theatre Wing, founder of the Tony Awards®, named Triad Stage “one of the top ten most promising theatres in the country” as the recipient of a 2010 National Theatre Company Grant. Its beginnings date to 1999 with the purchase of a former Montgomery Ward building in downtown Greensboro which had been built in 1936 and sat vacant for almost 40 years. Renovations began in 2001, transforming the five-story building into a world class theater center that included a rehearsal hall, offices, two spacious lobbies and special events areas. Opening in 2002, Triad Stage has since hosted more than 350,000 visitors to more than 75 productions and has been a catalyst for revitalizing all of downtown Greensboro.
Triad Stage’s fall season includes A Winter Concert, including songs from The Gathering along with original songs by Joe Newberry and Appalachian traditional songs, Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. For details on this and other productions, visit triadstage.org.
