Summer 2011

North Carolina has an artful adventure waiting for you this summer. We asked several notable N.C. authors to share their favorite artful day trips with us, and we  invite you to add your own getaway that includes a touch of the arts.

Some of our state’s biggest performing arts festivals take place in the summer, along with open studio tours and craft festivals that give you a unique opportunity to meet local artists and support them by buying their work. You’ll find more authentic N.C.adventures when you visit the N.C. Arts Council’s Arts Trails websites including Cherokee Heritage Trails, Blue Ridge Trails and Historic Happy Valley.

From modern dance to old-time fiddlers, opera to outdoor drama, classical music to traditional crafts, you don’t have to go far to experience the abundance of arts in N.C. this summer! For even more, visit our Events Calendar, OnStage in North Carolina, VisitNC.com and your local arts council.
